When I have more time I'll see if the Census annual estimates offer any more clue, but I am curious about just when Detroit's
radical decline started in the past decade. A few years back there were plenty of stories about Detroit having a modest rebirth. This isn't actually necessarily at odds with population decline citywide, as a rebirth can exist in certain population centers, while other neighborhoods become ghost towns, but I also get the sense that Detroit had a bit of comeback, interrupted.
