Back in the early days of blogging, sometime around 8000 BC, many journalists thought the fate of the universe depended on whether or not bloggers had ETHICAL STANDARDS and TRANSPARENCY that didn't exist anywhere else in the universe. They often fretted about the possibility that the beautiful minds of bloggers would be tainted by the immense of amount of filthy lucre being dangled in front of them. Or something. It never made all that much sense, especially as the Washington media is a giant mess of
conflicts of interest, financial and otherwise.
