Frankly, I worry about Iran's threat to our national security more than Iraq's, but as with the former maybe there's a better way to go about it than attacking and threatening to attack them. In the case of Iran the fear is not so much of being attacked by the state, but of angering its population, aligning them with their unpleasant government and theocratic leaders, and encouraging some particularly excitable ones to take things into their own hands.
