There was a NYT Magazine article a few months back about the tens of thousands of Bantu refugees who are about to start being resettled in the U.S. It's a really heartbreaking/hopefully heartwarming story. Many of these people have never seen indoor plumbing, paved roads, doorknobs, ... you get the idea. NPR had a piece on them recently
which is worth listening to. And, if anyone knows of the aid groups that are helping with their resettlement please let me know as it sounds like a cause worthy of some charity dollars.
