So, taking a peek at the bigger employment picture a
few things are striking. African-American unemployment jumped from 10.2% to 10.9% in April, compared to a change from 5.1 to 5.2% for whites. The labor force seems to be growing, not shrinking, as some have suggested. For white males, there was a fairly big jump in the rate, from 4.7 to 5.0%.
