Jesse and
Kevin wonder why the Bushies don't just come clean, admit "mistakes were made," and move on. I agree that it would seem to be the smart thing to do, but one of the hallmarks of this administration is their insistence on maintaining the illusion that all utterances made by Bush and the rest of the administration are Ex Cathedra ones, inspired by God, and therefore by definition not in error. I'm not sure how much of this is just a reflection of Bush's own particular pathology, or a part of the Roveian strategy, but it's nonetheless an important part of their Teflon armor. These people don't make mistakes. If you question them, you are wrong. Period.
