I've noticed the new Bush campaign tactic is to seize on any positive economic statistic and throw it out there as proof the economy is wonderful. Bush was in town today, and during his speech he proudly informed the audience that the NY Empire State Index showed that manufacturing was growing. Of course, the index covers New York and it was sharply lower last month, but I suppose technically he was correct.
