It's true that the Republican party is pretty much wrecked unless they find a way to pivot on Iraq. Still they seem to be surprisingly unwilling to make that pivot. The part of my brain which sees everything in terms of crass politics is thrilled by this development. The bigger part of my brain which actually cares about tangible results is rather unhappy about this.
