supporters managed to convince themselves that their support for the war, which lined them up with the executive branch, congress, and the prevailing weight of opinion of the media industrial complex, was somehow a hipster act of rebellion
against an all-powerful Left which was generally represented by random posts at that
multitrillion dollar force known as indymedia.
