It's worth remembering that 2 years one crazy impossible thing did actually happen - the Dems took the Senate. It was pretty much conventional wisdom that they'd get the House, but the Senate was an outside shot at best. Macaca!
I thought it was more important for Harold Ford to lose than for the Dems to take the Senate. Fortunately both happened!
