The state party's tendency to try to anoint a candidate for any statewide office and push everyone else out of the
way is very annoying. Primaries can be good things, in terms of forcing candidates to actually campaign, the airing of any potential scandals/bad information early, increasing the name recognition for the eventual winner, etc.
