Ultimately it all basically worked out, but once upon a time there were plenty of people who felt very strongly that the FEC needed to regulate those nasty bloggers because they... talked about politics! And were different than other media outlets because... well, I never quite understood it, but basically it was because occasionally blogs did
stuff like this.
