It's possible
that Sullivan's "just speak a bit in code to the hard core religious and anti-choice crowd" strategy can work somewhat with some
voters, but this isn't and really never will be true for anti-choice people in power. They aren't people who need their moderate discomfort over icky abortion assuaged, they're movement anti-choicers who are going to use their positions of power to make sure women are punished for unapproved sex.
