One thing I never really understood until I started to know a few Congressional staffers is just why lobbyists are given so much respect on Capitol Hill. I mean, sure, you get that there are some financial issues, but evil lobbyists (not all are of course) are treated with respect even by the good guys. It's part of the culture, in large part because
they're all pals.
