I'm not actually a tremendous fan of the fact that 4-year colleges are the basic means for people to achieve some level of upward mobility, but given current expectations by employers they still are. I don't know if my new Republican will succeed in
slashing funding as much as he dreams of, but if he does he will put college education out of reach for a lot of people.
