Don't think I had any impact, but the issue which turned history's greatest monster, John Cole, back to the light side of the force prompted me to do something I had never done before and haven't done since: contact basically everyone I knew working for Dems in Congress (not that many people, but more than a few) at the time and plead with them to understand that the Republicans were hanging themselves. Lots of people were sympathetic to the idea that Terry Schiavo's parents should get what they wanted, and maybe even hoped the Florida courts would side with them, but the instant it was decided that a local domestic matter could and should be an issue for Tom DeLay and pals to address in Congress, things changed.
At least that whole thing gave us the nominee for "Nobel Peace Prize in Medicine."
