Any crowded transit system shouldn't put fare collection/enforcement responsibilities onto the driver. I'd imagine there is more fare evasion if you don't, but it's really a small price to pay for
increasing boarding speed. If I ran the zoo I'd have aggressive ticket inspections but with relatively low fines ($30 range) for evaders.
