I've held the somewhat heretical view that maybe all that Citizens United and related money (a lot of the spending doesn't actually have much to do with the decision, it's more that the decision seemed to cause a cultural shift for our billionaires) wouldn't actually be the worst thing in the world for liberal politics. I'm not going to say it doesn't matter at all, or that it will never matter, but it might not matter quite as
much as people thought.
