I have no specific knowledge, but with our current discourse about the evils and waste of humanities education, I've been struggling to come up with scenarios such that they aren't, overall,
cash cows for universities, relative to other disciplines. Those classes are pretty cheap to provide, even with actual tenured or tenure-track faculty.
