"Populism," like "gluten," is often just used as a label for anything that's bad, according to the person using the word. Still it's a weird usage in a supposed democracy-worshiping country. I know elites think that elites have to protect us from ourselves - and what a great job they've been doing! - but I find it funny that they increasingly don't even pretend what they're pushing has mass appeal.
