Precisely because the US barely has any safety net at all, the need to engage in extraordinary measures at the moment is obvious. Well, to me anyway. Will be to increasingly more people every day, I hope. And I hope a few of them are in power. And a few of those aren't worried about how it will play with their imaginary friends on Long Island, or 2009 David Brooks, or whatever.
