I don't think all Democrats are Good or that they wouldn't be more likely to give a Dem president the benefit of the doubt, but if there was an even mildly convincing case that President Clinton (or any Dem president) had fucked up the pandemic response this badly, a majority of Dem voters wouldn't be saying, "yay team, great job." Certainly they wouldn't be calling 176,000 deaths acceptable even without being asked who to pin the blame on.
