It was breaking before him, but Trump shattered even more (though not completely, these things never die) the narrative of Republicans/Conservatives being the Good Christian Party. Years and years and years of Tim Russert hosting some horrible person who was presented as moral (Bill Bennett, Ralph Reed, ...) as Better Than You and certainly Better Than Democrats simply because they asserted their public Christianity.
Maybe they got this a bit wrong? Just maybe.
